Lawrence Edward Pond, died Friday, July 1, 2016 at the age of 87, born on March 20, 1929. He was a native of Petersburg and the son of the late William Randolph Pond and Madeline Traylor Pond. He was also preceded in death by his devoted companion Dorothy L. Hare. He is survived by his son, Mark E. Pond (Kymberly); daughter, Lisa P. Williams (Robert); grandchildren, Tamara A. Evans (Brandon), Jonathon E. Pond (Brittany), Benjamin A. Pond and Elizabeth P. Diaz (John); great-grandchildren, Lily E. Pond, Eli C. Pond, Brady M. Pond, Harper Diaz, Weston Diaz; sister, Phyllis P. Haden; nieces, Adrienne T. Haden (Victor Quirez) and Janet V. Haden-Baker (Mark). Mr. Pond was a retired self-employed Heating and Plumbing contractor. He attended the University of Richmond and Richard Bland College and served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. Mr. Pond was a world traveler and visited all 7 continents. He was an avid dancer who belonged to several dance clubs. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. onTuesday, July 5, 2016 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Tuesday after visitation at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery. Condolences may be registered at
