Lawrence Clinton Rippy, 77 of Richmond, formerly of New Albany, IN, passed away in CJW Medical Center, Friday, September 16, 2005. He was retired from the Defense General Supply Center in 1984 and was an Army veteran, having served in Germany, post WW II, and the Korean War. He has been a volunteer for the American Red Cross and the Bensley-Bermuda Rescue Squad. He enjoyed playing and listening to music, tinkering with cars and sharing his passion for magic squares. He will be remembered as a thoughtful individual and a helping neighbor. He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Dorothy F. Rippy; son, Roger Dale Rippy; daughter, Paula R. Padgett; grandchildren, Josiah, Heath and Holly Padgett; son-in-law, Josiah Padgett, Sr.; brother, Edward Lee Carlisle; sisters, Helen Spalding, Carolyn Mathews and Marilyn Caraway; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce Rippy and Delany Carlisle; sister, Norma Brown; brothers, Bruce Rippy, Jr., Charles Carlisle and Floyd Carlisle. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Chesterfield Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
