Leiper Gerlach

GERLACH, Leiper Roslyn, died peacefully on March 22, 2011 at the Petersburg Home for Ladies. She was born April 15, 1913 in Petersburg. She was preceded in death by her parents Dr. & Mrs. John Gordon Rennie and her daughter, Elizabeth Gerlach Thompson. Leiper graduated from Petersburg High School and attended The College of William & Mary. She played golf well into her eighties and played bridge into her 90â??s. While she loved living in the home her mother built in 1928 for over 80 years, she was grateful to be reunited with many friends at the Petersburg Home for Ladies. She was gracious, ever a lady and known for her easy manner, perpetual smile and always found the â??glass half fullâ?.

She is survived by her granddaughter Lisa Thompson Duthie, her husband, Gary, two great-grandchildren with whom she loved to have tea parties, Jamie Elizabeth Duthie and Jessica Renee Duthie of Enumclaw, Washington and a sister, Mary Rennie Goodykoontz.

A graveside service will take place at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 26th, at the Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations may be made to the Petersburg Home for Ladies Fellowship Fund, 311 S. Jefferson Street, Petersburg, VA 23803.
