Lenora Measles Alexander

Lenora Measles Alexander, 67 of Disputanta, passed away Monday, February 26, 2018 at Sentara Hospital in Hampton, VA following a long illness. She was a Christian, homemaker and collie fancier. She owned the Best of Breed winner at the Collie Club of America in 2009, held at Springfield, MA. Lenora was born September 9, 1950 to Charles Measles and Ruby (Street) Measles in Charlottesville, VA. She grew up in Hopewell and graduated from Hopewell High School in 1968; following high school she attended various community colleges. Lenora worked various retail jobs including the A & P grocery store for several years during the 1970’s. Lenora became a Christian in October 1974 which changed her life. She met her husband, Lyle Alexander at West End Presbyterian Church where they were married on March 17, 1979. The Alexander’s lived in several states during the following years, most of them in Indiana; they moved back to Virginia in 2008 and set up residence on Prince George County. Mrs. Alexander was loved by many among collie breeders around the country. When her husband recently announced her illness on Facebook, it filled with testimonies of how kind and sweet Lenora was and how she encouraged many in her faith in Christ. She was a prayer warrior as friends came to her with various needs, whether it was a lost dog or a relationship problem and they usually found their prayers being answered. A memorial service will be held, 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 3, 2018 at First Baptist Church, 401 N. Second Ave., Hopewell, VA., with the Rev. Darrell Boggs officiating.
