Lenora Pearl Payne

Lenora Pearl Payne, passed away June 7, 2023. Lenora was preceded in death by her parents, William S. Soyars and Georgia Pearl Clarke Soyars; her husband, Gilbert Payne; grandson, Michael Akins; sisters, Lucille Ingroff and Louise Nicholson; and brother, Samuel Soyars.
Lenora is survived by daughters, Carolyn Stamper (William), Linda Akins (Russell), Melody Pulver (Arthur); son, Wayne Young; grandchildren, Michelle Quillen (Michael), John Williams (Gail), Richard Akins, Lisa Smith (Patrick), Logan Jackson, Neal Jackson, Mel Pulver, Karli Pulver and Hailie King. Lenora is also survived by great-grandchildren, Jennifer Jenkins, Whitney Jenkins, River Quillen, Ashby Quillen and Ryan Akins and sister, Lois Pace.
Lenora was a longtime member of Powers Memorial Baptist Church, where she sang in the church choir for over 50 years.
Lynne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and was always there for her children and grandchildren.
A public visitation will be held Friday, June 16, 2023, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 820 West Broadway Avenue, Hopewell VA. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at 2:00 pm, interment will follow at Bermuda Memorial Park, 1901 Bermuda Hundred Rd, Chester, VA 23836.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Powers Memorial Baptist Church, 2807 Jackson Street, Hopewell, VA 23860.
