Leo Young

Leo Wayne Young departed this world on Sunday, October 17, 2010 at Brighter Living Assisted Living. Originally from Alliance, Ohio, Mr. Young was a graduate of North Carolina Central University and held a Masterâ??s degree in Urban and Regional Planning. Mr. Young served as Director of Special Projects for the Metropolitan Washington Council of Government (COG) until August of 2003. Mr. Young was COGâ??s first HUD intern. Mr. Young obtained funding and directed a range of notable projects in the Washington metropolitan area. Most notably, he and the chairman of COGâ??s Chief Information Officers Committee spearheaded the regions preparation for the Y2K conversion, among local governments. Mr. Young is survived by his brother, Ray Young of Durham, NC and son Jackson Young of Bloomfield, New Jersey. A memorial service will be held in Mr. Youngâ??s honor at Brighter Living Assisted Living on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at 10:00 A.M.
