Leon Bigby, M/Sgt (Ret) 94, of Hopewell died Monday August 30, 2004 at his residence. He was born in Doddridge, Ark., and had been a former Walnut St. resident since 1960. Mr. Bigby served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII and the Korean Conflict, a ret. Parole Officer with the State Probation & Parole Office, a member of Wesley Methodist Church, the Bright Star Lodge #556, Doddridge, Ark., and Past President of Hopewell Kiwanis Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Colquit H. and Sallie Ann Bryant Bigby. Surviving are his wife, Sarah Corbin Bigby of Hopewell; a brother, Charles W. Bigby of Austin, TX., a niece, Babs Gordon of Texarkana, Ark., and several other nieces. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 1, 2004 at 7 pm in Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Teresa Keezel, pastor, officiating. Visitation will follow the service until 8:30 pm. Interment will be in the Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery, Isle of Wight County on Thursday at 11:00 am.
