Leona Royster Conwell, 83, of Colonial Heights, passed away on August 10, 2015. Born in Ettrick, VA she was the daughter of the late William Lee “Buck” and Noreen Jeanette Andrews Royster; and was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Morton L. “Pete” Conwell. Mrs. Conwell was a longtime member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Colonial Heights, and she was also a member of the Colonial Heights Optimist Club. She is survived by her son, William L. “Billy” Conwell and wife, Dottie of Colonial Heights; two daughters, Cheree C. “Renee” Patton and husband, Samuel of Alpharetta, GA and Kimberly C. Rose and husband, Doug of Chester; six grandchildren, Meghan Conwell, Meredith Conwell, Lauren Sanborn, Samuel Kyle Patton, Ashley Rose and Aaron Rose; one sister, Rose Moore and husband Rt. Col. Melvin Moore; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff and caregivers of the Richard E. Brown Memory Unit at the Masonic Home of Virginia for all their wonderful care. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Colonial Heights. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2015 at the church with the Rev. Fred Adkins, Dr. Doug Echols and Rev. Charles Thompson, officiating.
