Leonard "Rocky" Allen Thompson

Leonard Allen “Rocky” Thompson, 62, of N. Dinwiddie, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at McGuire VA Medical Center with his family by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sandford H. and Ellen Keziah Thompson; two brothers, Bruce W. Thompson and Sandford H. Thompson, Jr.; and nephew, Hunter K. Lee. Rocky loved hunting, fishing, camping, working on cars, and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia L. Thompson; daughter, Kacee Lee Thompson; son, James Robert Thompson all of N. Dinwiddie; son, Rocky Thompson of Pierre, SD; daughter, Nikki Lynn Akins of Prince George; two brothers, Jerry D. Thompson (Betty) of Lincolnton, NC, and T.L. “Tommy” Thompson of Santee, SC; two sisters, Carol A. King of N. Dinwiddie, and Joyce T. Chapman (Robert) of Lincolnton, NC; sister-in-law, Jessie F. Thompson of Lincolnton, NC; mother and father-in-law, Katherine and Joseph Tyler of Prince George; two brother-in-laws, Michael Lee (Julie), and Timothy Lee (Stacia) both of Prince George; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and very close friends. The family would like to give a special thank you to the doctors and staff at McGuire VA Medical Center for their wonderful care. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, April 2, 2017 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. In honor of Rocky, please wear camouflage or bibbed overalls. Interment will follow at Gary’s United Methodist Church Cemetery in Prince George. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Saturday, April 1, 2017.
