Lester Mintz

Lester Marion Mintz, 84, formerly of Hopewell died Friday, December 14, 2007 in Riverside Nursing Home in Smithfield, Virginia. Mr. Mintz was born in Prince George County and resided in the Hopewell area for many years before moving to Surry, VA.. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was the recipient of the French Croix De Guerre, and the Bronze Star. Mr. Mintz was a member of the Jefferson Masonic Lodge #65 from January of 1956 and had the distinction of serving as a past Master. He had a life long interest in the automobile industry where he worked for approximately 60 years in both sales and service. Mr. Mintz was preceded in death by his parents, Otho Jackson and Amelia Murrell Mintz and his wife, Mildred Mintz. He is survived by a daughter, Milly M. Chrismer and her husband Tom of Pauleyâ??s Island, SC, a son, Buz Mintz and his wife Debbie of Surry, VA, six grandchildren, Pete Mintz, Jake Mintz, Ellen Mintz, Kipp Chrismer, Katherine Chrismer and Lindsey Chrismer, two great grandchildren, Caden Mintz and Broady Johnson, a sister, Myrtle M. Rongue of Hopewell and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Sunday, December 16, 2007 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held Monday, December 17, 2007 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with the Rev.
