Lewis Linwood Hanford

December 14, 1957 — February 5, 2022

Lewis L. "Bubba" Hanford was born in Petersburg, Virginia December 14, 1957 and was called to heaven February 5, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis H. and Lillian L. Hanford; and a nephew, Stephen Sheets. He is survived by his sisters, Deborah Hammond (Roger), Cynthia Newton, Lisa McNeal (Joseph); nieces, Tiffany Purdy and Shelby Newton; nephews, Christopher and Jeffrey Hammond (Angela), and Sheldon Cooper. Lewis graduated from Petersburg High School and was a musical talent, playing clarinet for the school band. He loved God, family and friends. He was a lifelong member of West End Baptist Church. He retired from Wal-Mart and has lived in Topping, enjoying life, playing music on his keyboard, and spending time with his fur baby, Bean. Everyone who knew him knew how much he loved the Washington Redskins! HTTR! Whether you grew up with him or just met him, you were a friend for life! All are welcome to say goodbye to a very special man. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Southlawn Memorial Park with Rev. William Lester officiating. The family is being served by the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com .
