Lewis Early Surber, Jr.

Lewis Early Surber, Jr., 82, of DeWitt, VA, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2022. Born in Smyth County, VA he was the son of the late, Louis Early Surber, Sr. and Mattie Comer Surber; and was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty L. Surber; and a sister, Patsy McVey. Mr. Surber faithfully served his country in the United States Army and was retired from Allied Chemical after 37 years of dedicated service. He had also been a Rec. League Baseball Coach for his sons in Prince George, VA. Mr. Surber is survived by his three children, Gary Surber (Dawn), Steven Surber (Carol) and Patrick Surber; five grandchildren, Cheyanne, Jon, Steven Jr., Hailee and Jacob; six siblings, Earlene, William, Nancy, Robert, Randy and Shari; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens, North Prince George, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 9, 2022 at the funeral home.
