Lewis Russell Ward, Sr.

Lewis Russell Ward, Sr., 86, of Hopewell, VA, passed away peacefully Friday, May 6, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, James T. Ward and Pearl E. Ward; brother, Etchell Ward; and a sister, Mary Ellen Stroud. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Elsie C. Ward; son, Lewis R. "Rusty" Ward, Jr. (Paige); son, Michael D. Ward (Susie); daughter, Lisa L. Stell (Walter); son, Jerry Wayne Lee (Glenda); son, James R. Lee (Mike Kershaw); son, Jody Lee (Glenna); 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Kenneth Ward (Peggy); sister, Elsie Baines (Brooks); brother, Connie Mack Ward (Susan); as well as numerous extended family and friends. Russ retired as a machinist from Hercules Inc. after more than 37 years of faithful service. Russ was a charter member of the Hopewell Moose Lodge 1472. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 10, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at J.T. Morriss & Son - Hopewell Capel, 820 W. Broadway Ave, Hopewell, VA 23860. A funeral service will be held at 11:00a.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at J.T. Morriss & Son Hopewell Chapel. Interment will be held Monday, May 16, 2022, 2:00 p.m. at Bermuda Memorial Park.
