Lillian Harrison Hines, formerly of Scottsdale, AZ, and Richmond, VA, passed away from natural causes on February 10, 2008 in Albuquerque, NM. Affectionately known as â??Lilâ? and â??Aunt Lilâ?, she was predeceased in death by her husband Wilbur Russell Hines; her parents Hattie Wray and Samuel Goode Harrison; her sister, Fanny Barnes; brothers, Edward and Clyde Harrison.. She is survived by her son, W. Russ Hines and his wife, Lorraine; three grandchildren, Christopher, Nicholas, and Victoria; her loving brother H. Preston Harrison and numerous nieces and nephews too many to list. Lillian was born on May 1, 1918 in Petersburg, VA, where she graduated from Petersburg High School. Because of her parents passing she helped her brothers Preston and Clyde through college and on to success in life as if they where her sons. She shared a wonderful life with her husband Wilbur for 43 years after their marriage in August of 1946. She was a devout Methodist her entire life, serving Highland, Central United, and then Scottsdale United Methodist Church in many facets. She took great pleasure in playing the piano and giving of her time and talents to her church in numerous and abundant ways. She was a life member of the Womanâ??s Society of Christian Service to the Methodist Church, served on the administrative board of Scottsdale Methodist Church for many years, always involved and participating in the organization of the Scottsdale Methodist Church Quilting Society, volunteering for any and all community service that was needed. She enjoyed gardening and flower arranging immensely and was a life member of the Petersburg Garden Club. Her grandchildren, nieces and nephews remember her as a person that was the connection to their family history, which she held dearly as itâ??s keeper. They remember her as a person of a great many talents, which she taught to them. She will be greatly missed and always remembered dearly. Graveside services will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, March 8, 2008 at Sunset Memorial Park. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com .
