Linda Elmore

Linda Ayers Brockwell Elmore, 59, of Petersburg died Thursday, October 05, 2006, surrounded by family at her daughterâ??s home after a long, courageous battle with cancer. A native of Petersburg she was the daughter of the late Richard Garland Brockwell, Sr. and Mabel Virginia Ayers Brockwell. Her determination and will to live was truly inspiring to all that knew her. She will always be remembered for her kind heart, peaceful nature, and love of animals and children. She even managed to return to school during the course of her illness so that she may substitute teach, as the children brought her great happiness. Linda is survived by a daughter, Mary Virginia Finch and husband, Scott; a son, A. Russell Elmore, Jr. and wife, Cristine; grandchildren, Scott William Finch, Jr., Sydney Ayers Elmore and Jarrod Russell Elmore; a brother, R. Garland Brockwell, Jr. and wife, Phyllis; several nieces and nephews; former husband, Alfred R. Elmore, Sr.; two cats and a beloved Chihuahua, who provided her much solace through this process. The family will receive friends at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service on Sunday, October 8th from 2 to 4 pm. A graveside service will be held in Blandford Cemetery on Monday, October 9th at 11 am. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to the Massey Cancer Center, Box 980037, Richmond, VA 23298 or your local S.P.C.A.
