Linda Wollaston

April 2, 1941 — January 14, 2022

Linda "Yaya" Kuykendall Wollaston, of Hopewell, gained her heavenly wings
January 14, 2022. Although her passing is very unexpected, the world could have never
prepared for such an impactful loss. An angel she already was, but a wife, mother,
daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother were her badges of honor.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Paul M. and Margarette M. Kuykendall;
loving husband of twenty-one years, Edwin L. Wollaston; brother, John Paul Hahn; and
nephews; Marc Daniel Kuykendall and Charles Anthony Hays. She will be lovingly
remembered by her brothers and sisters: Michael Kuykendall and wife, Pat; Rose Hays
and husband, Jerry Sr.; Robert Kuykendall and wife, Denise; Jerry D. Kuykendall;
Nancy Staton and husband, David Bailey; Mark Kuykendall and wife, Sheryl; Cara Jean
Keifer and husband, Gordon; sister-in-law, Barbara Hahn; children: Lesa Torrence and
husband, Greg; Angela Wickens and husband, Derrill; Paul Wollaston and wife, Brett;
grandchildren: Arielle Perkinson and husband, Jacob; Jordan Torrence and fiancé,
Kyle; Barrett Peacock and wife, Morgan; Mariah Pace and husband, Tim; Tyson
Kestner-Wollaston; Brittany Heil; Brandon Wickens; great-grandchildren: Jax, Adam,
Logan, Anna and Skylar; and lastly, her beloved bird companion, Otis. May she always live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and loved ones.
Linda enjoyed cooking, crafting, taking care of her birds, fishing, making wreaths
and other various floral arrangements, but most of all she enjoyed being around her
family. Due to her heritage, she could be seen at the Chickahominy Pow Wow every
summer. She mostly adored holidays and vacations with her family. Linda took great
pride in being an active member of the VFW, the American Legion, and the Hopewell
Moose Lodge. She played darts for many years and was well known for her skill and
compassion. She also volunteered at McGuire Veterans Hospital. Linda worked at the
Medicine Shoppe, ReliaCare, and Rite Aid delivering medications to homebound
customers. Linda also enjoyed working alongside her daughter, Angela, for Service
Transfer as an administrative assistant for the safety department.
There are not enough words to describe the kind of beautiful soul Linda
possessed. A woman that you could write novels on having to be simplified into a few
paragraphs is almost impossible. She was the perfect person, to her family, to her
friends, and to all who had the privilege of meeting her. She was well known for her fiery
yet classy spirit. Her witty one liners, contagious smile, larger than life presence, and
kind heart were some of her most memorable features. Linda did not know a stranger;
she had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off her back if she thought you
needed it. She was everything beautiful in this world. Someone that this world didn't
deserve but strived to become. Her timeless beauty and warm spirit always brought
attention to any room she stepped into. She was the matriarch, the foundation, the glue,
the light, the peace... the whole entire universe to her family. She was so incredibly
loved and will be forever missed.
The family will receive friends at 12:00 pm on Monday, January 24, 2022 at Calvary's
Love Ministries in Hopewell. The service will take place at the same location at 1:00 pm.
Her family will have a private graveside memorial for her to be laid to rest with her late
husband. She took great pleasure in helping others, therefore, the family is kindly
asking that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hunter Holmes McGuire Veterans
Hospital. The family is being served by the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com .
