Lindsey Conrad Snead, 85, of Petersburg, passed away Monday, February 10, 2014. Born in Blackstone, VA, he was the son of the late Walter Ernest and Ethel Toone Sneade. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Renee Diane Sneade and a brother, Raymond Carson Snead. After serving in the U. S. Navy, Mr. Snead lived in Chicago where he learned the building trade and went into business as a building contractor, building homes in the suburbs of Chicago. He moved to Petersburg in 1971 and started Lindale Construction Co. which he operated until 2005 when he retired after 34 years of restorations, renovations, roofing, and repairs of all kinds. He was a construction related mentor to many young people who worked with him, including his own sons and daughter, giving freely of his knowledge. Mr. Snead is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jeanette Faye Lave Snead; children, Dale M. Snead and wife, Michele Slone Snead of Dinwiddie, Lynnette Snead-Onuska and husband William Onuska of West Palm Beach, FL, and David Lindsey Snead and wife, Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Garner Snead of Prince George; grandchildren, Joshua Ryan Snead, Maddison Alyse Onuska, Bryan Daniel Onuska, Lindsey Elizabeth Snead, Emily Nicole Snead, and Sydney Faye Snead; step-children, James Simaner of St. Augustine, FL, James Simonick of Midlothian, VA, and John Simonick of San Antonio, TX; cousins, Genie Clark of Raleigh, NC and Carole Cheeley of Virgiinia. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 22nd at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 201 Walnut Blvd, Petersburg, VA, with Rev. Sara Nave officiating.
