Linwood Earl Kelly, 63, of Hopewell, passed away Saturday September 27, 2008 surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Gurney William & Eusebia Wade Kelly, a brother, Roland Kelly, three sisters, Elenor Jean Soring, & Georgia Carol Hill, Patricia Ann Hunter. He retired from the United States Army in 1985 after 20 years of service to include duty in Vietnam, was an avid fisherman, a member of VFW Post 637, past member of American Legion Post 146, and was a volunteer for the Department of Veterans Affairs, security guard with Wackenhut at Allied Signal. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Mary Kay Kelly, a son: Randy Earl Kelly of Richmond, brothers: William Gurney Kelly & wife, Willie Ann, Lonnie Wade Kelly & wife, Phyllis all of Kinston, NC, sister: Wilma Kaye Turner of Hopewell, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T.Morriss & Son Funeral Home Wednesday October 1, 2008 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday October 2, 2008 at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Curtis Wayne Parris of Anniston Alabama officiating.
