Lois Jean Honaker Lee, born on October 9, 1935, died on June 20, 2022, at the age of 86. A beloved mother and cherished wife to her husband of 59 years, Lois lived most of her life in Hopewell, Virginia, which she dearly loved. The daughter of Elbert Honaker and Lucy Honaker, Lois was born in Honaker, VA. After graduating from Honaker High School, she worked as a teacher until moving with her mother to Hopewell. There, her sister introduced her to Gordon Lee, whom she married after a 6-month engagement, and who built the two houses they lived in together for all their married life.
Lois deeply loved her children and grandchildren. She gave her all to her children as a stay-at-home mom until Gordon retired from Hercules and her children were grown. She later worked in the cafeteria at Hopewell High School, and work for many years as a volunteer at John Randolph Hospital. Her co-volunteer friends and the work she did at John Randolph Hospital gave her great joy in life.
Lois is survived by her four children, Linda Picard (David Ledford), Janet Lee Geary (Paul), Jennifer Lee Parrish (Frank Jordaens), and Scott Lee (Angel), and seven grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 23, 2022, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at J.T. Morriss Funeral Home in Hopewell. A celebration of Lois' life will be held at J. T. Morriss Funeral Home on Friday, June 24, 2022, beginning at 10 a.m., with Lois' nephew, Rev. Barry Ashbrook, officiating. Interment will follow at Appomattox Cemetery. Lois spent the last three years of her life in the loving care of the kind folks at Dunlop House in Colonial Heights, Virginia, for which her family give many thanks.
