Lois Jeanette Caudle Miller, 93, widow of Joseph B. Miller, Jr., to whom she was married 51 years, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2022.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James "Jimmie" Coleman Caudle and Lois Eunice Owen; her brothers, William Andrew Caudle (Hilda Foutz), and James Eunice Caudle (Dorothy Holleman); sisters, Anna Evelyn Skinner (Carl L. Eley, Junius Edward Inge, and Charles Skinner), Mabel Inez Hamner (Gerald R. Hamner), and Yvonne Watterson (Rev. Gene L. Watterson).
Jeanette was a graduate of Petersburg High School where she played basketball and served as Captain of the team in 1947. She was an accomplished piano student and loved to play often accompanying her younger sister, Yvonne Caudle, in recitals.
She retired after 44 years with C+P, Bell Atlantic, and Verizon. She held numerous jobs while at the telephone company starting as an operator while still in high school and retiring as a Facilities Planner/Engineer.
Jeanette was a member of Elm Street Baptist Church since early childhood, then moving her membership to First Baptist Church when Elm Street closed. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Colonel John Bannister Chapter, and the Telephone Pioneers.
She is survived by her children, Joseph B. Miller III and Lois Lydia Miller (Richard Huang); grandchildren, Lydia Rachel Huang and Leah Currin Huang; and many nieces and nephews.
