Lois Newton

Lois Clarke Newton, 82, of Colonial Heights, widow of Shelton T. Newton, Sr., passed away Sunday, June 15, 2008. Born in Chesterfield County, she was the daughter of the late Edward Porter and Leila Williams Clarke. She was an active member of First Assembly of God where she taught Sunday school for many years. Mrs. Newton was preceded in death by a son, Shelton T. â??Shellyâ? Newton, Jr., six sisters, and a brother. She is survived by her son, Kenneth C. Newton and his wife, Tracy of Petersburg; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Colonial Heights Health Care Center for their care and support. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, June 18, at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 AM Thursday, in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Dwayne Walker officiating. Interment will follow at Blandford Cemetery.
