Lois Sawyer

Lois Morgan Sawyer, age 85, of Chester, VA, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 8, 2011. She was a homemaker and a long-time volunteer in the activities department of Lucy Corr nursing home. Her sweet smile and loving ways will be missed by many. She was born in Benson, N.C., the daughter of the late John L. and Ava Lucas Morgan. Mrs. Sawyer was also preceded in death by her devoted husband of 43 years, Wesley Edward Sawyer, who always provided for Lois and whose love never waivered; her siblings; her siblings-in-law; a nephew; and two grand-nephews. Mrs. Sawyer is survived by her devoted and loving partner, Elbert Vernon Mabe, Jr., who was with Lois â??to the end of the roadâ?; son, John Russell Sawyer; daughters, Ava Maureen Sawyer and Deborah Anne Sawyer; daughter-in-law, Donna Craveiro Sawyer; grandchildren, Justin Morgan Sawyer, Anna Maria Sawyer and Wesley Evan Sawyer; and many other loving family and friends. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 11, 2011 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Chesterfield chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 12, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with interment following in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester.
