Loren L. ("Snooky") Parker, Jr.

Loren Leonidas Parker, Jr., 94, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at Cartersville Medical Center in Cartersville, GA.

He was the son of the late Loren Leonidas Parker, Sr., and Lillian Hedgpeth Parker, and was preceded in death by Helen McIlwaine Parker, his loving wife of 54 years, and a brother, Joseph Richard Parker.

An 87-year resident of Petersburg, Snooky attended Petersburg High School where he participated in several sports, then went on to Hampden-Sydney College. Prior to graduation, he was called into the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of Captain and serving on the island of Saipan during World War II.

Snooky was in the insurance business for all of his professional life, serving the Hopewell area with his dad and brother at The Parker Agency, then as one of the first representatives for a then-little-known company from Columbus, GA known as American Family Life.
