Lorraine Berry Moody, widow of Harry J. Moody of Chester, died on Tuesday, September 29, 2015. Surviving are her three children, Jay Johnson and husband, Tom, Thomas (Tam) Moody and wife, Bonnie, and Monta Anthony and husband, Ken; eight grandchildren, Scott Moody and wife, Terri, Tyler Moody, Jay Anthony and wife, Kristen, Mary Sullivan Broome and husband, Clayton, Dunklin Anthony and wife, Lauren, Grady Anthony and fiancé, Rachel, Lorri Dudley and husband, John, and Tom Johnson, IV and wife, Liz; eight great-grandchildren, Mallory Moody, Evan Moody, John Dudley, Jr., James Dudley, Mathew Dudley, Livvy Johnson, and James Anthony; and many devoted nephews, nieces, and special friends. Mrs. Moody graduated from Pan-American Business College and worked for the local school for many years as a secretary and substitute teacher. She was a long time member of the Chester United Methodist Church, a member of the Village Women’s Club, and a member of the Jamestown Foundation. She also volunteered for the American Heart Association for many years and was a mentor at Harrowgate Elementary School for 10 years. Mrs. Moody volunteered 500 hours as an airplane spotter after World War II. She was very active in her church and in her community. A funeral service will be held at Chester United Methodist Church, 12132 Percival St., Chester, VA 23831, on Friday, October 2, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. The family will receive friends an hour prior; starting at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Chester United Methodist Church.
