Louis Bishop

Louis Nelson Bishop â??Pappyâ?, 89, of Petersburg went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 19, 2007. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Thomas and Eva Frances Wilkerson Bishop, his wife, Louise Temple Bishop, his sisters, Doris Brock and Ethel Bishop, his brother, Herbert Roy Bishop and a great-grandson, Dylan Voigt. Louis was a retired mail carrier who was recently recognized by the National Association of Letter Carriers as being one of the oldest members with over 30 years and had served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was an avid golfer at Lee Park Golf course and won many trophies. Louis was also a member of Monumental Baptist Church for over 60 years and a member of American Legion Post #2. He is survived by his daughters, Dorothy Wawner Lanier and husband, Malvin, Nancy Wawner Voigt and husband, Paul, Joan Bishop Eavey and husband, Alfred, and Gayle Bishop Defibaugh and husband, Charles; sister, Jessie Anderson, 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service on Friday, July 20, 2007 from 6 to 8 pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, July 21, 2007 at 10 am. Burial will follow in Blandford Cemetery. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com .
