Louis Raymond Floyd, 73, of N. 8th Street, Hopewell, died Tuesday, February 24, 2004 at his residence. He was born in Pittsylvania County, VA and had been a resident of this area since 1962. Mr. Floyd was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, DuPont Lodge #289 and was a retired millwright from Philip Morris. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther D. and Lessie McFarthing Floyd. Mr. Floyd is survived by his wife, Irene Leslie Floyd of Hopewell, three daughters, Rhonda L. Carter of Axton, VA, Vickie L. Ayers of Chesterfield County, VA, Carolyn A. Cline of Emerald Isle, NC, one son, Leslie V. Mayhew of Prince George, 6 grandchildren, Beth, Brandon, Lacosta, Amanda, and Amber,Courtney 7 great grandchildren, Logan, Joshua, Tristin, Isabella, Shelby, Donavan and Damion. A Masonic service will be held at 7:00PM Wednesday, February 25, 2004 in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service until 8:30PM. A graveside service will be held Thursday, February 26, 2004 at 11:00AM in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, with the Rev. Charles Crawford, pastor of First Jerusalem Fellowship officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Crater Community Hospice, 840 W. Roslyn Road, Suite E, Colonial Heights, VA 23834.
