Louise W. Dayvault, 90, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024. Born and raised in Dinwiddie County, VA, she was the daughter of the late James Oliver Williams and Mildred Lee Davis Williams; and was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Ira David Dayvault, Sr.; four brothers, Randolph Williams, Toby Williams, Wilbur Williams, and Thomas Williams; three sisters, Rebecca (Sis), Katherine (Kitty), and Mary Alice; a stepson, Billy David Dayvault; and two special friends, Justine Potts and Bernice Nunnally. Louise is survived by her son, Ira David Dayvault, Jr. (Joyce); a daughter, Penny Lee Thomas; one stepdaughter, Linda Stamos; four grandchildren, Matthew Dayvault, Scott Rogers (Lauren), Shelby Dayvault Tinsley (Charlie), and Stephanie Jenkins; four great-grandchildren, Easton Jenkins, Karsyn Rogers, Kambri Rogers, and Lochlyn Rogers; her sister-in-law, Mary Williams; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A life-long resident of Dinwiddie County, VA, Louise graduated from Midway High School in 1951, where she excelled in sports, basketball, and softball. She was also voted in her senior year as "Biggest Flirt" Senior Superlative. She was a lifetime member of Ocran United Methodist Church in Sutherland, VA, where she raised her family. She was an active member of the church choir, taught Sunday school and vacation bible school, played church league softball, and was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Women's Fellowship.
After high school she married Ira Dayvault. She worked for several years at Titmus Optical and the Rucker-Rosenstock Department Store. After having her children, Louise began working as an office/teacher aide for the Dinwiddie County School System, at Northside Elementary and Rohoic Elementary Schools, for 35 years before retiring. One of her greatest joys was working with children. She frequently volunteered to support many extra-curricular activities with "her" school children. She also loved to spend time with friends, traveling, shopping and crafting.
After retirement Louise remained active with church activities, taking friends to doctor's appointments and shopping. She enjoyed sitting with the elderly, visiting nursing homes, and calling to check on those in need. But, her greatest love was enjoying her family, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the children of friends and neighbors. No person was a stranger to her!
The immediate family would like to express their deepest thanks to At Home Care Hospice staff for their most professional, loving care and support. A very special thanks to our personal caregivers, Linda Bishop and Penny Dillard, who delivered compassionate, exemplary care and of whom she loved.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. p.m., on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at Ocran United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Larry House, officiating. Interment will be private. The family is being served by the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
