Louise Rickman

Louise Temple Rickman, 83, entered her heavenly home on December 27, 2007 after a long battle with Alzheimerâ??s disease. The youngest daughter of the late Arthur Drewery Temple and Laura Pansy Wells, Louise was born March 17, 1924 in Petersburg, Virginia and raised in Hopewell, Virginia. Lou was the widow of the late Joseph Oppel Rickman, Sr. She is survived by her daughter, Vickie Rickman Horst and her husband Mark, of Houston, TX and her son, Joseph Oppel â??Rickyâ? Rickman, Jr. daughter-in-law Karen Burrow Rickman and her only grandchild, Joseph Oppel Rickman, III of Burrowsville, Virginia. Those left to cherish her memories include her sister, Helen Temple Rickman of Hopewell, Virginia and brother, Rev. Robert Lee Temple of Mechanicsville, Virginia. Many nieces and nephews will miss her dearly as Aunt Lou was always a favorite among them. They include the very devoted Irene Brown, Buddy Wagner and wife Anita, the Rev. Preston Wagner, Tommy Rickman, Timmy Rickman and family, Trudy Rickman and husband, Chuck Dean, and many others. Lou led a life of service. She was married for over 50 years to Joe, raised two children, was an active member of Liberty Baptist Church and was Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star. She was a retired civilian employee from Fort Lee, Virginia. Having grown up during the depression, she took little for granted and gave generously to her church, her family and loved ones. She and Joe enjoyed traveling and had many wonderful memories from their trips to Europe, Greece and throughout the United States. While she loved to travel she loved being at home even more. Her memorial service will be Monday, December 31, 2007 at 10:00 AM in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service with burial following in Appomattox Cemetery with the Rev. Alex Roberts of Unity Baptist Church and her nephew the Reverend Preston Wagner officiating.
