Louise Harmon Smith

Louise Harmon Smith, 88, of Hopewell, passed away on Thursday, June, 1 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eli Harmon and Mary Lee Toone Harmon; husband, Herndon H. Smith; and son, Clinton H. Smith. Louise was a member of the Hopewell Federated Women’s Club, the Women of the Moose Hopewell Chapter 1180, Order of the Eastern Star Alpha Chapter #1, and Red Hat Society Hopewell Chapter. She loved serving her community and was a part of the Senior Citizen Advisory Commission and was awarded “Volunteer of the Year” award. She is survived by her son, Warren H. Smith and wife, Katie; daughter, Julie S. Dauksys and husband, Chris; daughter-in-law, Lisa Smith Wead; three grandchildren, Laura S. McHale and husband, Jason, Daniel E. Smith and wife, Arly, and Evan P. Dauksys; one great-grandchild, Luke McHale; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. A funeral service will be held at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home on Monday, June 5, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery, 15 Cemetery Rd., Chase City, VA 23924 at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., on Sunday, June 4, 2017.
