Alvah Louise Oliver Spradlin, age 64, of Matoaca, passed away Saturday December 31, 2011. Born in Shreveport, LA, she was the daughter of the late W. L. and Doris Keller Oliver. Her 33 year civil service career began in the commissary office at Fort Lee, VA, and ended June 1, 2002 when she retired from the Navy Environmental Health Center in Norfolk. She was an avid bowler for many years and had a love for nature and the outdoors, which included working in her flower garden and feeding and watching birds. She was always present and willing to help others. She is survived by her daughter, Linda D. Simpson (Tim) of Glen Allen; son, Richard N. Daniel (Terra) of Matoaca; brother, Larry Oliver also of Matoaca; sister, Betty Smith (Gene) of Taylor, AR; grandchildren, Amber M. Daniel, R. James Daniel and Joshua A. Daniel; her first husband and father of her children, Freddie R. Daniel, formerly of Colonial Heights; her friend and companion, Sherry Huffine; her devoted doggy, â??Sissyâ?; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, special friends and neighbors. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 5th at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
