Luther Gayle Coghill, Jr., 92, of Richmond, passed away on February 24, 2014. Born in Roanoke, VA, he was the son of the late Luther Gayle, Sr. and Ada Scott Coghill; and was also preceded in death by his wife, Annie Eubank Coghill; and five siblings. Mr. Coghill attended Thomas Jefferson High School in Richmond. He was a United States Navy veteran, having served in the Pacific during WWII. He was a retired sales representative from Lorillard Tobacco. Mr. Coghill is survived by his daughter, Patricia Coghill Smith and husband, Wert; one son, Gregory Lewis Coghill; three grandchildren, Susan Smith McKain and husband, Scott; Wert Smith, Jr., and Anne Smith Murray and husband, Woodrow; five great-grandchildren; his beloved sister-in-law Susie Eubank Shelton and a host of nieces and nephews. A Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Dale Memorial Park, with the Rev. Rick Greenwood, officiating.
