Luther Elmer Tilghman

Luther Elmer Tilghman, 89, of Chester, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Zilla Merritt Tilghman; and wife, Frances Langston Tilghman. Luther enjoyed fishing at Surf City, reading, watching westerns on T.V., and listening to classical, country and big band era music. In his younger years, Luther played church softball and was on a bowling league with his wife. He is survived by his children, Donna Angone and husband, Rocky, Angela Downey and husband, John, and Larry Tilghman and wife, Patricia; eight grandchildren, Gina Fox, Chris Beacham, Kevin Angone, Gina Angone, James Downey, David Downey, Kayla Tilghman and Brandon Tilghman; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Retha Pearson and Mary Ham; brother, Bill Tilghman; his special love, Lois Johnson; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. A graveside service will be held at Dale Memorial Park, Monday, April 17, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Sunday, April 16, 2017 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
