Lydia Karoline Thinnes

Lydia K. Thinnes, 85, passed away peacefully at her home in North Chesterfield on January 15, 2016. During her final days, Lydia was surrounded by family, friends and her loyal companion, Buddy. Lydia was born in Ansbach, Germany and immigrated to the United States to make a better life for herself. Lydia was a special woman who touched everyone she knew. Lydia was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Thinnes. She is survived by her sister, Hermine Anderson; her children, Norbert Thinnes and Marion Barkley (and husband, Bud Barkley); her grandchildren, Douglas Thinnes, Greg Thinnes, Rachel Thinnes, Megan Thinnes, and Stephanie Bland (and husband, Adam Smith); and her great-granddaughter, Josephine Thinnes. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Richmond Animal League or other animal charity of your choice.
