Lynn Ellen McHugh

Lynn Ellen McHugh, of Chesterfield, VA, transitioned from this life to a better one on April 18, 2025. She was born on April 21, 1954, in Pulaski, VA, to Anna May McClelland and Richard Foltz McClelland. After moving with her parents several times, she landed in Chester for the second time in 1969 and graduated from Thomas Dale HS in 1972. She attended NC State University and graduated in 1976 with a BS in Mathematics. She worked as a Computer Programmer for Chesterfield County, United Virginia Bank, and the Federal Reserve Bank. Her last job was as an Admin Assistant with the Dept of Criminal Justice Services, School Safety Division, and retired in 2013.

Lynn attended Chester UMC. She was active as a youth and later as a youth counselor. She met her soulmate and best friend, Tom McHugh, in the CUMC youth group. Lynn loved the Lord and enjoyed leading and molding the youth. Lynn and Tom were married in 1979 at CUMC and remained active members. She sang in the Chancel Choir for 48 years, played handbells for 28 years and sang in the lady's ensemble, Dawn of Grace. After retirement, Lynn and Tom traveled the country visiting 23 National Parks and 26 MLB stadiums. Lynn was an avid water skier and enjoyed softball, basketball, bowling, and golf. She was a friend to everyone and loved to smile and laugh.

Lynn was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 46 years, Thomas A. McHugh; her brother, David J. McClelland; two sons, Matthew K. McHugh (Sarah), of Blacksburg, VA and Eric S. McHugh (Amy Kensington), of St. Petersburg, FL; three grandchildren, Kenzie McHugh, Kyle McHugh, and Dean McHugh.

Visitation and a Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Chester UMC, 12132 Percival St, Chester, VA. Visitation will be at 1:30 p.m., with the service at 2:30 p.m., followed by a reception at the church.
