Mabel Virginia Nolan, 74, of Petersburg, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday March 30, 2011. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Frank & Lossie Bell Pate Goodman, her husband John Gilbert Nolan, and a brother George Frank, Jr. She was retired from the Federal Government after 28 years of faithful service at the Defense Commissary Agency at Fort Lee, Virginia, along with being employed with Woolworthâ??s and Masonâ??s Dept. Stores for many years. She was a devoted military wife who traveled the world with her husband and daughters. Mrs. Nolan is survived by a devoted sister, Grace Jones; she will be greatly missed by her loving daughters; Patricia Nolan Nunnally & husband Jim of Petersburg, Angela Nolan Collins & fiancé, Shanon Peedin of Hopewell, Marsha Nolan Smith of Disputanta, Ginger Nolan LaBrake & husband, Bobby, of Prince George. Veronica Nolan Adkins & husband Keith, of Colonial Heights, grandchildren; Candice Anne & Lindsay Jean Nunnally both of Petersburg, Tommie Smith III of Disputanta, Lisa Sligh of Hopewell, Ariel Smith of Disputanta, Tamara Irving of Hopewell, Jessica Webb of Colonial Heights, Angel LaBrake of Hopewell, & Jonathan Adkins of Colonial Heights, great-grandchildren; Brooklyn Sligh, Zoey Irving, Nathaniel Jenkins, & Rain Sligh, great-God Daughter; Alyssa Davis, devoted friend; Ann Hardee, numerous nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law; Lou Ellen Rouse & Sandra Turner. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 pm Friday, April 1, 2011 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service, a funeral service will be held 11:00 am Saturday April 2, 2011 in the funeral home chapel.
