Mabel Terrell Melnyk

MELNYK, Mabel Elizabeth Terrell, 98, of Chester, departed this life on Sunday, March 6, 2022.
She was the second of 8 children born to Moncrieff and Meta Terrell. She was a lifelong resident of Chester, and graduated from Chester High School.
She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Michael "Mickey" (2007); son, "Mickey, Jr." (2012); great-great-grandson, Nathan (2011); brothers, Moncrieff, Jr., Alan, Charles; sisters, Juanita and Jacquelin.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Beth Radford (John), Cathy Kirkland (John); daughter-in-law, Judy Melnyk; 8 grandchildren, Melissa (fiancé Jon), Michael III (Lorraine), Michele (Dean), Mindy, Brian, Sara (Taylor), Jonathan (fiancée Morgan), Amy; 14 great-grandchildren, Jarrod (Rachel), Kaitlyn, Michael IV, Mykayla, David (Ashley), Joshua, Jacob, Megan, Peyton, Sophie, Ella, Caden, Ethan, Logan; and a great-great-granddaughter, Savannah. Also surviving is her brother, Joe; sister, Doris; and a host of extended relatives.
Mabel enjoyed being a homemaker, trips to the mountains of Virginia with Mickey, Outer Banks vacations, bird watching, and Sunday night family dinners. Her yard was a Certified Wildlife Habitat.
A heartfelt thank you is extended to the wonderful caregivers who lovingly helped Mabel for the past few years.
The family will receive friends at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home (Chester) on Friday, March 11, 2022 from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM, followed by a chapel service at 2:00 PM. Please wear a mask. Interment in Sunset Memorial Park (Chester). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National Wildlife Federation 11100 Wildlife Center Dr. Reston, VA 20190.
