Marcia Lea Cole of Richmond, Virginia passed away Tuesday April 5, 2011.
Born July 12, 1949, she grew up in Virginia Beach, and later resided in Louisa and Richmond, Va. She received a BS degree in Business and Marketing Education from Madison College (now James Madison University) in 1971. She began her career in teaching, but later changed to banking and accounting, and was presently working for Clifton Gunderson, LLP. Marcia was a 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Army National Guard Quartermaster Corp from 1979-1985. Marcia did a lot of volunteering, including work for the Richmond Chapter of the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants Scholarship Committee for college bound students. She was active in fund raising for Meals on Wheels, the Virginia Food Bank, Homeless Shelter, and Salvation Army. Her creative fund raising efforts were greatly appreciated. She put in countless hours for the Louisa Volunteer Rescue Squad from 1994-2007, both while she lived in Louisa and continuing when she moved to Richmond.
Marcia was known for her generous spirit, frank attitude, creativity, attention to detail, as well as her love of kids. Her â??Marcia Madeâ? cards will be remembered by all who received them. Marcia is affectionately remembered by her brothers, Peter T. Cole and Wade Cole and his wife, Donna; sisters, Virginia (Pinky) Crane of Bermuda, Jo Ann Martin and her husband, John of Chester; life-long friend, Delana Barksdale; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and other loving family and friends. A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 10, 2011 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Chester Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A Celebration of Marciaâ??s Life will follow there on Monday, April 11, 2011, at 1 p.m., with interment afterwards in the Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to Louisa County Volunteer Rescue Squad at P.O. Box 1777, Louisa, VA 23093, or to your local SPCA.
