Margaret Eunice Hardy Booth, 84, of Hampton, VA, formerly of North Dinwiddie, passed on to glory, peacefully on October 29, 2014 at 11:00 am. She was born on November 28, 1929 to the late Daniel Luther and Margaret Eunice Hardy. She was also preceded in death by two infants (boy – died at birth 1954; girl – died at birth 1958; both on 11/12); and two brothers, Daniel Luther Hardy Jr. and John Wayne Hardy. She is survived by her husband, George Herbert Booth; daughter, Janet Booth Scott and her husband, F.J. “Sonny” Scott; Grandchildren, Olivia Noel Yancey, Dana Louise Yancey, and Aaron Booth Yancey; Great-grandchildren, Jaquon Stern and Yvette Harris; Step-grandchildren, Robin Matthews, Tracie West, Joey Williams; Step-great-grandchildren, Tabitha & Thomas West; Sister, Emma Laurie Smith; brother, Rennie William Hardy; several nieces and nephews. Margaret retired as a civilian worker at Fort Lee with the Dept. of Transportation in the 1990s and worked at Moody Air Force Base in Georgia prior to moving back to Virginia in 1969. Over the years of her life she was a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ having accepted Him as her Savior when she was a child; a woman of strong, unwaivering faith—an inspiration to ALL!! even unto the end; An active church member at Tabb Street Presbyterian Church where she worshiped and sang in the choir; a reader of mostly historical and spiritual related books, the Bible being her #1 go-to; an adventurer at heart, she enjoyed traveling abroad and France was her favorite place to visit; a fan of knitting and crocheting of which some projects were completed and quite a few remain as a work in progress; a very good, intuitive cook – no one went hungry; she loved flowers and was an advocate for vegetable gardening and establishing azaleas and rhododendrons on her wooded property; a loving mother and grandmother who prayed continuously for her family; a good neighbor – kind, caring, compassionate; a benevolent soul who supported the works of many fine charities and educational institutions; and, most notable, a devoted wife to George with whom she was in love with every day of her life for 66 years. Mother’s parting words were, I LOVE YOU, and this is who she is! The family will receive friends from 5 pm to 7 pm on Friday, October 31, 2014 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will be held at 11 am Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. Immediately following interment a memorial service will be held at 12 pm at Tabb Street Presbyterian Church, 29 West Tabb Street Petersburg, VA 23803.
