Margaret Thomson Grant, 99, died on January 19, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Alexander Cameron and Jean Lowe Thomson. She was born in Cambuslang, Scotland, and her family emigrated to New Jersey. She graduated from Kutztown State Teachers College just as WWII was beginning. She enlisted in the Army and spent the next three years working as a Cryptographer in the War Dept. Code Room at the Pentagon. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Grant was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Capt. William Paul Grant; a brother, George Thomson; daughter, Gwynneth Grant; son, Geoffrey Grant; and grandson, Gabriel Chester. She is survived by her daughter, Heather Grant Chester, of Chesterfield; granddaughter, Kristen; and grandchildren, Molly and Seamus, of Charlottesville; and grandson, Douglas and partner, Tanya, of Harrisonburg; and grandsons, Owen and Liam; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She cherished her long life. She enjoyed birdwatching, crafting, sewing, reading, playing cards, word puzzles, the beach, and most of all, spending time with family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Bethia United Methodist Church, 10700 Winterpock Road, Chesterfield, at 1 pm, conducted by Rev. Jacob Sahms. In lieu of flowers, donations maybe made to any food bank or a charity of your choice.
