Margaret Neaves Hunnicutt, of Stony Creek, VA widow of Joseph Mason Hunnicutt, departed this life on April 21, 2006 at age 82. Born November 12, 1923, she was predeceased by her parents, Junious Riddick Neaves and Carrie Mayes Neaves and sisters Virginia Neaves Rose and Maude Neaves Ridley. After graduating from Stony Creek High School, she attended Farmville State Teachers College (now Longwood University). She served for many years as Deputy Commissioner of the Revenue for Sussex County and served as Commissioner of the Revenue for Sussex County from 1980 until her retirement in 1996. She was a member of Fort Grove United Methodist Church in Stony Creek and the Sussex County Chapter of the American Red Cross and was a recipient of the Clara Barton Award for dedicated service. She is survived by three children, Joseph Mason Hunnicutt, Jr. of Stony Creek, Richard Brooks Hunnicutt and Mrs. Stuart Hall Russ, Jr., both of Waverly; grandchildren, Mrs. C. Monroe Wells of Smithfield, Lillian Brooks Hunnicutt of Surry, and Hannah Faith Hunnicutt of Waverly; step-grandchildren, Rachel Feitig and Sarah Feitig, both of Waverly; two great-grandchildren, Madison Brooks Wells and Russ Monroe Wells of Smithfield. Graveside services will be held on Monday, April 24, 2006 at 11:00 am at ?Forest View?, the family cemetery in Sussex. VA. The family requests memorial donations to the American Red Cross/ Sussex County Chapter, 3267A S. Crater Road, Petersburg, VA 23805. The family is being served by the Petersburg Chapel of J.T.
