Margaret Anderson Parker, 88, of Waverly, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, January 27, 2012 after a brief illness. Born in Cape May County, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Gottlieb S. and Johanna Fredrickson Anderson. Margaret was a devoted wife and loving mother. She was an inspiration to all with her fun-loving spirit and enthusiasm for everything life affirming and of benefit for others. Margaretâ??s interests spanned many decades, from her creative youthful interest in fashion design, athletics and expert figure skating and dancing to later actively volunteering for the Waverly Womanâ??s Club, Girls Scouts of America and the Newville Baptist Church. She worked alongside her husband for many years in the farming and logging business as well as a few years employed as secretary to Elmon Gray at Gray Lumber Company. She and her husband were avid contract and duplicate bridge players and she also enjoyed reading, sewing and oil painting.

Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Robert Newton Parker, Sr.; a son, Robert Newton Parker, Jr.; her brothers, Frank, John, Walter and Edwin Anderson; sisters, Mildred Sheldon, Alice Anderson, and Gertrude Locke. She is survived by a son, James Anderson Parker of Waverly; a daughter, Sue Parker Kamenar and husband, Paul of Chevy Chase, MD; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Parker; four grandchildren, Sherry L. Campisano, Roberta D. Pyne, Susan M. Kamenar, and Alice M. Kamenar; three great-grandchildren, Renay, Raymond, and Anthony; a step-granddaughter, Jody Wright; two step great-grandchildren, Joseph and Haleigh; great-great-grandson, Carter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at the funeral home with Rev. Randy Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Newville Baptist Church Cemetery in Waverly. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Monday at the Wakefield Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and after the service in the fellowship hall of the church.
