Margaret Archer Steidtmann, 95, of Petersburg, died Thursday January 1, 2009. She was the daughter of the late Mack Henry and Mary Blount Cheely Archer. Margaret was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church where she was involved with the music program, playing the piano since she was 9 years old, member of the choir, BTU leader, and the snack supper co-coordinator. She was a member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. As a member of the American Kennel Club, she raised miniature Schnauzers one of which earned Champion recognition of the AKC. She retired from Brenco, Inc. after many years of service as a secretary and bookkeeper. She was an Assistant Clerk of the Court for the Petersburg Circuit Court where she served for several years. Her marriage to Carl A. Steidtmann ended in divorce. She was devoted to her family and friends. Margaret is survived by a nephew, William S. Burton of Richmond, Virginia; niece, Mary Lynn Hicks & husband Ben, of Sterling, Virginia; first cousin, Louise Norton Compher, of Tampa, Florida; three great nephews and two great nieces. A memorial service will be held at the Petersburg Home for Ladies Monday, January 5, 2009 at 2:00PM. A graveside funeral service will be conducted in Blandford Cemetery, Monday, January 5, 2009 at 3:00 PM.
