Margie Mae Plummer Brown

December 31, 1924 — November 14, 2014

Margie Mae Plummer Brown, 89, of Petersburg, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 14, 2014. She was born the daughter of the late Oscar K., Sr. and Lillie Mae Turner Plummer. She was baptized at an early age and joined Bethany Missionary Baptist Church where she became a member and served earlier as a member of the choir. Margie was sensitive to the needs of others and found joy in her outreach of love to many of the charitable organizations. She was an avid and passionate bowler for many years and was a member of the Greater Petersburg Women Bowling Association. She bowled most recently with the Ladies Night Owl Bowling League on the teams of “Margie’s Angels” and “Almost There”. She retired from J.T. Morriss & Son where she worked for over 20 years. She also worked for many years as a seamstress in many of the local clothing stores. Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel G. Brown; and her brothers, Everett and Oscar Plummer. She leaves to cherish her memory, a devoted sister, Mildred Tatum of Petersburg; a devoted nephew, Mitchell Tatum; step-son, Vernon H. Brown, of Columbia, SC; step-daughter, Viola Brown Morton of Wichita Falls, TX; three grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. Also cherishing her memory are devoted nieces, dear and close friends, to include her neighbors, Bethany Church Family, her Bowling Family, Dr. Milton Ende and Staff, Hospice, and Caregivers. Mrs. Brown will lie in state Monday, November 17, 2014 from 9:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. and Tuesday, November 18, 2014 from 8:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at Bethany Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor, Eli Melvin Jr., Officiating. Interment will be in Wilkerson Memorial Park. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com . The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still water. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou are with me; they rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou prepares a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. Psalm 23
