Maria Del Carmen Alvarez

Maria Alvarez, age 61, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 6, 2023.

She was born on December 14, 1961, in Santiago de Maria, El Salvador. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfonso Martinez and Maria Rodriguez. She was extremely close to her cousin, Maria Elena; and aunt, Maria Olivia Rodriguez, who she now joins in heaven. She had a son, Miguel Angel Rodriguez, who tragically passed away before her.

Our mother was hardworking and always put her family before herself. She held a strong spirit, allowing her to help her family and those close to her. She moved to the United States in 1996; she went to New York to work for her daughters in El Salvador. In New York, she met her husband of 25 years, Jose Alvarez. They both then decided to move to Virginia in 2004. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and caring grandmother, whose memory will live on. Those that had the privilege of knowing her, knew that she had an immense love for both God and her family.

She is survived by her children, Jeannette Rodriguez, Luisa Rodriguez, Claudia Gonzalez, and Helen Alvarez. The many grandchildren she had are Jorge, Emily, Fernanda, Sofia, Camilia, Elisa, Darielys, and Dariel. Her brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews also live on to remember her.

A funeral service to commemorate and celebrate Maria's life will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, located at 3050 W. Hundred Road, Chester, Virginia 23831. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 2901 W. Hundred Road, Chester, Virginia 23831. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 17, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
