Marie Allgood Brown

Marie Allgood Brown, 82, of Petersburg, VA passed away on Friday, September 14, 2018 at her son’s residence. Born in Mecklenburg, VA she was the daughter of the late, Clarence Allgood and Estelle King Allgood; and was also preceded in death by her step-father, Woodrow Chandler, Sr.; husband of 60 years, Pete Brown, Jr.; two daughters, Janice Mayer and Becky Whelan; a granddaughter, Rachel Brown; Mrs. Brown was employed with Brown & Williamson retiring after many years of service. She was also a former member of 3rd Presbyterian Church in Petersburg. Mrs. Brown is survived by one son, David Brown and wife, Kathryn; five grandchildren, Jennifer Brown and husband, Andrew, Kimberly Brinker and husband, Keith, and Jayme, Jacob and Irving Whelan; five great-grandchildren, Richard, Jordan, Sara, Elijah and Jovi; six siblings, Herbert Allgood and wife, Dorothy, Clarence Allgood and wife, Alta, Woodrow Chandler and wife, Joan, Frances Bishop, Myrtle Hooper and husband, O.B., Jr., and Nancy Tatum and husband, Edward; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park.
