Marie Gilbert

Marie Pennington Gilbert, 94, a former resident of Ivor Street, Hopewell, died Friday, August 13, 2004 in Battlefield Park Convalescent Center, Petersburg. She was born in Ocoonita, VA. Mrs. Gilbert was preceded in death by her parents Jeff and Lily Cornellis Pennington, her husband, Harrison Medford Gilbert, two sons, James Gilbert and Douglas Gilbert, and three daughters, Pauline Oaks, Dora Gibson and Mary Carroll. Surviving are two daughters, Lucille Terry of Jonesville, VA and Pearl Williams of Carmel, CA, three sons, Keith Gilbert of Enon, Dale Gilbert of Richmond and MacArthur Gilbert of Matoaca, 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 15, 2004 from 2 to 4 PM at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Monday, August 16, 2004 at 2 PM in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens with Rev. Dr. Ivan Perkinson, Officiating. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com
