Marie "Polly" Smith

Marie Wyatt â??Pollyâ? Smith, 82, of Hopewell, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2012. Mrs. Smith was retired from the Pioneer Federal Savings and Loan Association after numerous years of dedicated service. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Bethlehem Piecemaker Quilt Ministry of Bethlehem Congregational Church in Disputanta, Virginia. She was an avid quilter and reader, an extraordinary cook, and a good listener. Mrs. Smith was very devoted to her family and enchanted by her great grandchildren; and was loved by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Floyd Smith; her parents, Willie C. and Ethel Elmore Wyatt; and her brothers, Buddy and Roy Wyatt. Mrs. Smith is survived by her sons, Robert C. Smith and wife Dianne, and William L. Smith and wife Laura; grandchildren, Robert Clayton Smith Jr. and wife Holly, and Shannon S. Hagan and husband Brian; great grandchildren, Sawyer Hagan and Julia Hagan; sister, Mae W. Vaughan; special brother-in-law, Tommy Brown; close, dear friend, Maggie Vier; and a host of family and friends. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 12, 2012 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held immediately after the visitation at 2:30 p.m., with Dr. Michael Browder officiating. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park in Prince George, Virginia.
