Marie Royster Wilkinson

Marie Royster Wilkinson, 87, of Carson, VA passed away at home on Saturday, October 11, 2014. Born on March 5, 1927, in Durham, NC she was the daughter of the late Mary Eunice and Robert Opie Royster. She was preceded in death by Robert Major Wilkinson, Sr., her husband of 65 years. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and held numerous positions within the church. She was an avid reader and a wonderful cook. She was an exceptionally dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was also preceded in death by her brothers William, Carl and Alvin Royster. She is survived her two daughters, Donna W. Allen (Lee) and Loraine D. Wilkinson; and a son, Robert M. Wilkinson, Jr. (Shirley); four grandchildren, Ashley A. Child (Jeremy), Andrew L. Allen (Tracey), Robert M. Wilkinson, III (Mary) and John Blake Wilkinson; seven great-grandchildren, Hayley, Mary Grace, Jenna and Ava Wilkinson, Mason and Morgan Child, and Wyatt Allen; a sister, Mary Alice Bland (Jimmy); a sister-in-law, Ruby Royster; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30p.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Robin Jones, officiating. Interment will follow in Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery, 19312 Templeton Road, Carson, VA.
