Marion Elizabeth Dunbar

Marion Elizabeth Dunbar, 92, of Hopewell, Virginia passed away peacefully October 17, 2018. Marion was born in Calloway, VA on August 1, 1926. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lacy C. Dunbar, Jr.; her parents, Mawyer and Ocie Prillaman; sisters, Letha Wrenn, Pauline Groat, and Lois O’Connell. Marion is survived by her children, Robert V. Dunbar (Cheryl), Beverly D. Herbert (Buck); grandchildren, Caitlin McCloud (Jeromy), Courtney Davis (Will), Christopher Herbert (Jennifer), Elizabeth Stevenson (Eric), and Sara Herbert; great grandchildren, Morgan McCloud, Nathan McCloud, Landry Herbert, Lacy Herbert, Layton Herbert, and Katherine Davis; several nieces and nephews, as well as numerous extended family and friends. Marion was a devout Christian who loved the Lord. She was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Hopewell, VA. Earlier in her life Marion served as a nurse’s aide at John Randolph Hospital. She always found joy and comfort in helping others who were in need. Marion also worked at Hercules Inc. for twenty years as a shipping clerk. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and spending time with her family whom she worshiped. The family would like to express their extreme gratitude to the staff of Brighter Living and Sunflower Gardens for the care and comfort they afforded Marion these past few years. The family would also like to thank Hospice for their care and support during her final weeks. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday October 22, 2018 at J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 820 W. Broadway Ave. Hopewell, Va. A funeral service will follow at 11:00am in the Chapel. Interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park.
