Marjorie Diana Batts, affectionately known as â??Dianeâ?, departed this life on Sunday, October 7, 2007 after a period of illness. Diane was born to Charles Linwood Turner and Cornelia Brooks Turner on August 29, 1946 in Petersburg, Virginia. Diane graduated from Peabody High School in 1964, and was employed for 37 years at Allied Signal Corporation, now Honeywell. She was a faithful member of Emmanuel Worship Center until her passing. Diane retired in 2000, and was an avid gardener, a volunteer at her church, a fan of professional basketball, a â??Scrabbleâ? aficionado, and an unrivaled champion and devotee of her grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, Diane leaves to cherish her memory: four children, Traci L. Anderson of Silver Spring, MD, Samuel L. Batts, Jr. of Fairfax, Kimberly M. Brickhouse of Chester, and Michael W. Batts of Chesterfield; six grandchildren, Bryan Charles Anderson and Caitlin Cornelia Anderson of Silver Spring, MD, Frasier W. (Trey) Brickhouse, III and Corbin Thomas Brickhouse of Chester, Kamryn Nicole Batts and Camille Simmone Batts of Chesterfield; brother, Daniel W. Turner, Sr. of Las Vegas, NV; sister-in-law, Mona B. Turner; sons-in-law, Clinton E. Anderson and Frasier W. Brickhouse, II; daughter-in-law, Kenya S. Batts; nephews Daniel Winston Turner, Jr. and Brandon Marcus Turner; aunts, Dora Turner, Mary O. Ryles, and Canzata B. Turner; devoted cousins, Eva R. Reaves, June R. Hill, Ruth R. Williams, and Barbara Barnes; devoted friends, Maxine Collins, Sheila Harris, Annie Jones, Beverly Pegram, Mozelle Perry; and a host of other friends and relatives. The family will receive friends at the Chesterfield chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service on Thursday, October 11, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will take place in the First Baptist Church, Harrison St., Petersburg, VA on Friday at 1 p.m., with interment following in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester.
